I’m a freelance journalist who enjoys traveling the world. I’ve spent most of my career working for newspapers in the United States, most recently in Washington bureau of the Boston Globe. For more than a year, I covered politics in the nation’s capital, including coverage of the 2012 presidential campaign.

Before landing at the Globe in Washington, I spent several months in Southeast Asia as part of a journalism fellowship awarded by the International Center for Journalists.

My journalism career has taken to many parts of the country, including Detroit; Norfolk, Va.; Seattle, and the San Francisco Bay Area. My longest stint was at The Sacramento Bee, where I covered the health care beat. Prior to that assignment, I served as a general assignment reporter who covered everything from municipal bankruptcies, major wildland fires, wayward whales, same-sex marriage and everything else worthy of a headline. In 2007, I spent six weeks in Iraq covering the war.

This blog is still in development. I’ll be adding more content, including video and photo galleries, in the coming weeks.
